Random Dahlia photo post

I took Dahlia down to the park today and took some pictures. She just got groomed yesterday so she's looking all spiffy!

Yes that's Dahlia on the playground equipment. Adventure doggy likes going up there.

Slurp!

I love her eyes in this picture. In larger versions you can see the playground equipment reflected in them.

So serious.

Look! My dog actually DOES smile!

(Note in these pictures you can really see the goldish-red highlights that make me think she's got Golden retriever in there somewhere)

Middle of the walk rollover. While walking in the Erie Canal Park last week, Dahlia did her typical "roll over for a belly rub" thing. One woman who was walking rushed over to us thinking something was wrong with my dog. Sweet, but she's fine. Just likes her belly rubs!

Aww, she's so pretty!

I wish my dog, Pepper, would let me take pictures of him. He's figured out that cameras make annoying flashes, so if he sees a camera he hides. :(

Aww that's too bad! I take my photos with a camera with a huge zoom (18x) which can help. Can you countercondition him to accepting the camera being around?

[identity profile] ringwraith10.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I'm not sure how I would go about doing that. I have gotten some decent pictures of him using zoom and by quickly snapping a picture before he has time to react. I guess I could try to give him treats when I take pictures of him.

[identity profile] crysania4.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
You could first just bring the camera out and set it down, give him treats, and work your way over a little while up to picking the camera up, holding it to your eye, etc. That's how I'd try doing it at least!

I have a picture of Teri (see icon) where she was ducking around the corner to see if I still had the camera.

Aww, that's cute. I'll probably spend some time doing that. If I could get him to see the camera as a positive thing, maybe he'd be more likely to look at it! :) Thanks for the tips!

No problem! I hope it helps...and post pictures if you get any!! lol

I have some after-surgery pictures that I took earlier today, and I may post some of those. He just had surgery on Tuesday, so he looks a little sad and pitiful in the pictures (Though he is feeling MUCH better today than he has the last few days).

[identity profile] crysania4.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Aww poor guy! What did he have surgery for?

[identity profile] ringwraith10.livejournal.com 2009-11-15 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
He had an infection in his mouth, so he got teeth pulled. It wasn't a major procedure, but since he's very old I was still really worried about him. I'm so glad he's starting to act normal again, though. I was worried that, at his age, the anesthesia would have a very bad effect on him (he's about 15 years old). I'm actually going to make a post about it right now. :)

I'm glad to hear he came out of it ok! Surgery's always scary but more so when they're older.

She is so gorgeous, I want to snuggle her fluffy face!

Our two need a bath, that will be fun...the whole house will be soaking!

LOL

LOL! So how did the bath go? Pictures would be fun! ;-)

We've never given Dahlia a bath ourselves. We just take her to the groomer and let them do it.
