This is how Dahlia gets attention...or tells us she wants to go out. She comes over and puts a paw on us. Or if we're sitting next to her, well, we get this pic.
soo cute! kimbo has to be touching us if he's sitting next to us--paw on the knee, paw on the foot, nose touching a leg--SOMETHING. it's pretty cute. if he wants to go out he goes and stands by the door and peeks over at us.
Kimbo and Dahlia sound SO MUCH alike. She loves to have a paw on us. If we rub her belly a paw goes on us. If David is sitting at her head rubbing her belly and I'm sitting at her back end, also rubbing her belly, we each get a paw on us.
It's interesting how each dog lets us know how they want to go out. Pepper, my childhood dog, would go to the door and scratch at it lightly. Teri comes to you and does this weird little dancey thing. Dahlia comes and puts paws on you (if you're sitting at your desk, you get the one paw for attention and when you say "what do you want" you get the other paw on your lap as well).
kimbo likes to put a paw on our faces (we're trying to break him of that habit, because he's given me a couple fat lips) for some reason while he's getting pets.
my childhood dog was a very beautiful well-behaved chow. if he wanted out, he'd go sit by the door--just sit--until someone noticed and let him out, samesies if he wanted back in.
kimbo's a bit more ridiculous. if we're not in the room where we can let him outside and he needs to go out, he zoomies in to find us and does a little "follow me" dance and then runs to the door and sits and waits. if we don't follow immediately he returns and does the dance again. once i fell asleep on the couch and he put his nose in my face to wake me up and then ran to the door. lots of times i'll ask him if he wants to go outside to go potty and he'll do a little spinny dance and then sit and stare at me intently. it's precious.
Aww cute. It's really interesting to see how each dog finds its own way to alert people to wanting to go out. I should get a picture of Dahlia's hilarious stuff. She will come into my study and put a paw on my lap. When I turn to look at her, she'll then put the other paw on my lap as well and grin up at me like a fool. That always means "Mom it's time for my walk!"
chaser has the bells on the door, but he only jingles them trying to get our attention in other ways has failed. it would be so much easier if he just used the bells in the first place. i guess he tries to be subtle or something.
That's cute though! But yeah it would be TOTALLY helpful if he would just walk over and ring the bells. I'm not sure Dahlia would ever do that. I think she thinks that throwing paws in our lap and grinning at us like a fool is much easier. And more fun. lol
Dogs are so wonderfully expressive - their faces, their body language. Each has their own personality. I really think animals are much more intelligent and aware of things than they're given credit for by science.
And incidentally, she looks adorable in that photo!
