Down again?

Unbelievable. It appears livejournal is down, or partially down yet again this morning. I'm attempting crossposting (posting at dreamwidth and crossposting it to LJ so we'll see if this works!).

My camera left Ohio last night and is on its way to NY. *happy dance* It does appear likely that it'll show up tomorrow as expected. And it's supposed to be nice tomorrow and Saturday. If that's the case, expect plenty of pictures!!

My Dad is doing well. Today he'll find out if he's out of quarantine. I'm guessing his numbers have come up enough that he should be. *crosses fingers* I can't believe his surgery is a week from tomorrow. Scary.

On another note, I arrived home last night to find that I had been summoned for jury duty. Starting the Monday after my Dad's surgery. NYS can go screw itself. I postponed it. Now I'll probably have to do that shit in August. I have NO interest AT ALL in being involved. I pretty much think, from everything I've ever seen, that lawyers are corrupt bastards and the law is totally fucked up. So yeah...not really something I relish doing. Maybe they'll conveniently lose my number. I KNEW I never should have filled out that stupid form they sent me. I know some people have avoided it for YEARS by just not sending the form back. UGH.

SO fed up with the DDoS attacks on LJ, but if we are this frustrated, imagine how frustrated they are? Poor guys.

I know. They have to be incredibly frustrated, especially with all the cries of "omg i pay for this give me my money back!!" Once was bad enough but the continuous attacks have to be really rough on the LJ team.

Ugh. Yeah. It's not like it's due to some server issue on their part, or bad code push. This is an external issue they're working their ass off on and the last thing the should have to worry about is giving people paid time, too.

Everyone is panicking and trying to back up their LJ's (seriously, every entry on my list so far has been about it or mentioned it) so they're just clogging the tubes. Give it a week.

That's not what caused the initial problems, but it's not helping them resolve any faster. It took two minutes, sure, but think of how many LJ users there are. The original issue was DDOS attacks, which do not put the site at risk for deleting everything or never coming back or whatever.

Yeah I know about the original issue. I just didn't think that people backing things up would bog it down much more so than all the posting and commenting and uploading images and whatnot that usually goes on!

I back up mine all the time...every couple weeks or so. I never want to lose it. But yeah, there's a LOT of panicking and a LOT of not understanding what's going on. It seems to happen every time there's a glitch with LJ. lol

I'm just glad I managed to get my new userpic up, I realized a few days ago the one I'd uploaded I'd cut incorrectly. Of course, when you make your mind up about a mundane task like that and you can't finish it.. it's really annoying!

Of course, you won't hear this on LJ news or anything, but the DDOSes are coming from pro-Russian-government groups, mainly targeting the RU portion of the site. This of course has knock-on effects on the whole site, hence LJ being sporadically down.

The main target is presumed to be [info]navalny, an activist who often speaks out against the Russian government's corruption. Other activists on LJ for similar causes have been beaten to within an inch of their lives.

I'm just saying, next time you bitch about LJ doing business with the Russians, stop and think about the fact that it is one of the few sites brave enough to give a voice to those brave enough to speak out against injustice.
